Morphological variation and quality in Anatolian black pine seedlings

There are many biological and environmental factors in success of forest establishment including afforestation, industrial plantation, other forestry practices such as nursery technique provenance. Forest is also getting importance for the Anatolian Black pine [Pinus nigra Arnold. subsp. pallasiana (Lamb.) Holmboe] because its widely using afforestation higher unproductive area, (i.e., landscape planning). It known that seedling morphology quality play key role economical these practices. This study was carried out on 1+0, 3+0 5+0 years containerized seedlings grown Adana-Kicak Konya-Seydisehir Nurseries to contribute (such seedlings) For purpose, height root-collar diameter 100 randomly chosen each age group were measured at end 2017. Averages 9.9 cm, 22.6 59.8 respectively, while they 2.6 mm, 7.8 mm 14.3 diameter. Coefficient variation highest 3 old both characters (27% & 25.3%) but lowest 5 ones (16% &18.3%). 1% (height<5cm) 17% (diameter<2mm) 1+0 year cull/unsuitable no any cull according classes Turkish Standard Institute. Positive significant (p<0.05) correlation found between all groups. emphasized could be used selection easy by managers.
